I do agree with Harald on MooTools. It has a very readable and logical syntax and there are lots of neat, useful classes written for it. You should take a closer look at it.

In your entry it seems like MooTools is only nice for fx, a common opinion since people know moo.fx as extension based on prototype. But its really a full featured Ajax framework like Prototype with even more features, like the included solid Fx system, Chaining and custom Events. It also provides compact helpers for Cookies, Hash, Sortables, Drag&Drop, Json, Tooltips, Assets (loading Images, scripts) ... everything a developer needs in one compact library with a clean API :-)
